I’m really not too sure who comes up with these food holidays, but whoever declares today, the 22nd of August, Eat a Peach day, I love you! Peaches are this Friday’s fave! Why do I love peaches so much?

I’ll give you 10:

10. They’re fuzzy!

Eat a Peach Day! | C it Nutritionally How many other fruits or vegetables are fuzzy? (OK, at least a few — there’s kiwi, and strawberries have those tiny hairs, but you know what I mean!)

9. Peaches are SO versatile in the kitchen…

Try this savory guacamole with a peachy twist!

They go sweet, they go savory, and they don’t need much doctoring. When ripe and in season, they’re sweet enough on their own to cut down the sugar in a peach pie, and they caramelize perfectly when used a top fish or chicken.

8. There are many varieties…

Yellow and white (white ones are sweeter, FYI!)….donut peaches…you won’t get bored with this fruit!

7. They’re tough enough, but still supple, to withstand the high heat of a grill!

Because nothing really beats a grilled peach for dessert!

Not the best picture, but I swear SO tasty!

6. A medium peach is only 60 calories…with 2g fiber and even protein!

I had to throw in a nutrition fact…and with those stats, why wouldn’t I?! And yes, produce has protein!Eat a Peach Day | C it Nutritionally

5. Peaches contain a good amount of potassium, vitamin A (great for your eyes!) and vitamin C (boosts your immune system and keeps your skin looking young!).

4. They’re packed with anti-inflammatory phenolic compounds!

Super nutritious, with health benefits…and looks so good…WOWZA!  Eat a Peach Day | C it Nutritionally

3. Nothing is better than a PEACH PIE…

…with minimal added sugar because they’re so darn delicious on their own! Peach Crisp | C it Nutritionally PLUS — those of you with stone fruit allergies (if you stuck around this long to read about something you’re allergic to) — you may be able to enjoy peach pie because many times the highly allergenic protein in raw peaches is broken down when cooked! Woooo! Peach Crisp | C it Nutritionally

{told ya you’d want to make that Single Serve Peach Crisp!}

2. The juicy drip-down-your-chin sweetness is so nostalgic of my summers growing up (and probably yours too)!

1. They’re (somewhat) a delicacy…

Peak peach season is a scant 3 months long in most parts of the country. Yes, you can find peaches outside of these months, but they’re just not the same. Get em while they’re it’s hot! Eat a Peach Day | C it Nutritionally See what I mean??? Why wouldn’t you want to eat a peach today?  Oh and one more cool fact — Did you know that CHINA is the world’s largest peach grower?

Me neither…until I read this article!

Have a peachy-keen weekend! 😉

XO

    1. I’m so sorry you have that allergy, Brit…but peach (or apple) pie is the best so you’re lucky you can still enjoy them cooked!
