Healthy Tuna Salad With Cranberries
Enjoy this Healthy Tuna Salad With Cranberries for a protein-packed lunch with a hint of sweetness – perfect for fall!
Gluten Free, Nut Free, Soy Free, Dairy Free
It is soooo sandwich season, amiright?!
It’s not only back to school season, but also tailgating season, and picnic season (yup, I think fall picnics are way better than hot and humid summer picnics)!
Growing up, I was a lunch bringer (not a buyer). My mom had a sandwich rotation for our lunches – turkey, soy butter (before the days of my beloved SunButter!), and TUNA!
My husband even calls me “fish lady” sometimes because it’s always my go-to pick.
It’s also EASY!
I always have a can of tuna in my pantry, thanks to my monthly shipment from Thrive Market (affiliate link).
Have you heard of Thrive? I’m OBSESSED!
Thrive Market is an online marketplace with vetted, high quality products.
Food shopping can be complicated (trust me, I get it!). If I wasn’t a dietitian, I’d be SO confused!
Heck, sometimes I STILL get confused by what I see on supermarket shelves. Products available at Thrive have to pass high standards to join the coveted club.
Healthy food also gets a bad rap for being expensive. Thrive aims to reduce the cost of high quality products by giving you WHOLESALE prices. That means you’re getting some of the BEST products for the LOWEST PRICES.
Since we only live a few blocks away from Whole Foods, I often peruse the shelves for the latest and greatest… and then smile when I see how much money I save on certain products from Thrive!
OK… so go check it out!
Even this Healthy Tuna Salad sandwich has most of its ingredients from Thrive…
- Sustainably-caught tuna
- Dried cranberries
- Primal Kitchen avocado mayo (my favorite mayo – made with AMAZING ingredients!)
- Spicy Brown Mustard
- And even bread from Thrive
I’ve been creating exclusive shopping lists from popular stores for my clients, but would you like to see it? You can download my pantry staples list here!
So back to this sandwich…
I elevated your basic healthy tuna salad here by adding CRANBERRIES!
I’m so ready for allll of the fall flavors – pumpkin, apples, carrots, maple, and CRANBERRIES!
Dare I even admit I used to not be a fan?! Now I love their slightly tart and sweet flavor. ????
The Cranberry Institute recently reached out to share some new information with me, and I’m excited to share it with you…
One reason I’m such a fan is because cranberries are anti-bacterial! In a handful of organs, cranberry compounds can actually prevent bacteria from sticking to cells, reducing the initiation of infections. (That’s why cranberries are notorious for helping prevent UTIs!)
[Tweet “Did you know CRANBERRY compounds can be anti-bacterial? Stock up before FLU SEASON!! @CranInstitute @USCranberries”]
Plus, research shows that cranberry compounds can support “protective functions of the gut barrier.” As I personally suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome and gut dysbiosis (an imbalance of bacteria in the gut), I’m always looking for ways to best help my gut, and this hint of sweetness is right up on my list!
Dontcha want to add dried cranberries to your sammie now?!
