Is there any dessert more fun than funfetti cake, cookies, or anything?! I think not!! It’s a total throwback to your childhood, right?

I know it is for me! Plus, sprinkles make everything more fun, so I know you’re going to LOVE this recipe!

I took everything I love about funfetti cake batter and put it into a dessert-inspired dip… with a healthier twist sans sugar crash.

Instead of licking the spoon and feeling blah a few minutes later, this cake batter dip helps you better balance your blood sugar thanks to plant-based protein, fiber, and healthy fats packed into this dip.

That’s what I call a healthy snack!

Healthy Cake Batter Dip is…

  • Delicious
  • Easy to make
  • Made with only 6 ingredients
  • Filling, thanks to fiber and plant-based protein
  • A great way to introduce beans to your kids
  • Fun to eat

What makes this dip “healthy?”

Most cake batter or funfetti dips you’ll find on the world wide web are made with cream cheese, Cool Whip, and funfetti cake mix. While there’s nothing wrong with enjoying these ingredients, they can definitely lead to a sugar crash.

When thinking about crafting a healthy snack, I think ENERGIZING! That means ingredients that will keep you full, satisfied, and focused (sans sugar crash).

In this case, the base of this dip is made from a combination of white beans (or chickpeas) and SunButter. This no sugar combo is packed a filling trifecta:

  • Plant-based protein
  • Healthy fats
  • Fiber

This combination is key for a filling and balanced snack.

As a result, this cake batter dip doesn’t taste exactly like funfetti cake (because it doesn’t contain actual funfetti cake mix), but I think it’s a great substitute when you want that cake batter fun without the sugar crash. Sprinkles included!

So yes, this recipe contains two types of sugar (plus sprinkles), HOWEVER, the overall amount is low and per serving, you’re not getting all that much sugar.

Ingredients to Make Cake Batter Dip

You only need 6 ingredients to make this healthy cake batter dip:

  1. White beans
  2. SunButter
  3. Cake batter extract
  4. Brown sugar
  5. White sugar
  6. Sprinkles

White beans are the base of this cake batter dip. White beans contain 21 grams of plant-based protein and 21 grams of fiber per can (and yes, this recipe uses an entire can). Protein and fiber are satisfying, filling, and satiating nutrients, making them a key part of a healthy snack.

No Sugar Added SunButter adds a creamy mouthfeel to this dip, thanks to the healthy fats from sunflower seeds. I opted to use SunButter without added sugar because this allows you to play around with the amount of sugar YOU want to add. Of course, if you only have regular creamy SunButter available, that works too!

Cake batter extract totally amps up the cake batter flavor. Of course, if you don’t have this flavored extract in your pantry and want to make this ASAP, you can swap in vanilla extract.

Brown sugar and white sugar are included in this recipe… but only ¼ cup for the entire recipe! You can also swap in coconut sugar, but I would avoid adding liquid sweeteners instead because they have much stronger flavors that will shine through.

Sprinkles are a must for funfetti anything! You can use any color or shape you’d like. I loved the naturally-colored spring vibes I got from these sprinkles.

How to Make Cake Batter Dip

This recipe could not be easier to make. I highly suggest using a food processor over any type of blender (as much as I love my Vitamix, I just think a food processor works better for these dips).

Combine all of your ingredients, except the sprinkles, and pulse until combined. For best results, pause to scrape down the sides of the food processor several times to make sure all of the beans are very well mixed in.

Then you can transfer the base dip to a bowl and mix in the sprinkles.

Yes, it’s THAT easy!

How to Serve Cake Batter Dip

The ways to serve this healthy cake batter dip are limitless. Personally I love a mix of more nutrient-dense foods and less nutrient-dense foods.

Here are some ideas:

  • Apple slices
  • Strawberries
  • Graham crackers
  • Pretzels (such a good salty + sweet combo)
  • Orange segments

This recipe will stay in the fridge for about one week… but I bet it won’t last that long!
