Are you on the hunt for a sweet and salty treat that won’t leave you feeling sluggish and weighed down?
Vegan, No Churn, Salted Double Chocolate Chip Banana Ice Cream is here!
Yes, it’s as good as it sounds.
No, it’s not real ice cream.
Yes, you can eat it for breakfast tomorrow.
No, you probably will NOT want to share.
Because I know I wanted allllll the Salted Double Chocolate Chip Banana Ice Cream for myself. All of it!
If you’re not an avid Pinner, Instagramer or food blog follower, then you may not be up on a popular frozen treat taking over the internet. I’m talking about “nice cream” or “ice cream” made from frozen bananas. No special equipment required!
All you have to do is blend or process frozen bananas. The texture is creamiliciously smooth and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Yes, Mary Poppins level excited!
While you could make 1-ingredient banana ice cream by whipping up frozen naners in your food processor or blender, why wouldn’t you take it a step further and make Salted Double Chocolate Chip Banana Ice Cream?
Now, I’m not typically a fan of chocolate ice cream (fruity or cookie dough is more my thang), but this creation hits the nail on the head and satisfies every ice cream craving you may be having (pregnant or not!).
I think it tastes better on a sugar cone (sugar cones are lighter than wafer cones) because why not end your ice cream treat with a cone?
Treat yo’self…
Just because this is a lighter treat, I still think there’s room for real-deal desserts in an overall well-balanced diet. Sometimes you just want the real stuff that feels a bit more indulgent and heavier in your belly… and that’s OK!
But if you’re having tons of weekday ice cream cravings (like yours truly), sometimes a lighter alternative is just what you need. You can feel 100% confident that this sweet treat is good for you.
Here’s what you need to make this sweet treat…
Bananas
Bananas are one of the most popular fruits worldwide! They contain a variety of nutrients, including potassium, fiber, magnesium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C. So yes, you’re eating a variety of nutrients for dessert!
Plant-based milk
You can use your favorite plant-based milk in this recipe. You just need some liquid to “loosen” the mixture and get blending. I used soy milk in the original recipe, but have since used coconut milk, pea milk (like Ripple), and even dairy milk.
I suggest plant-based milk to make this recipe 100% vegan, but if you tolerate regular milk well, go for it and use it!
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Cocoa powder is made from grinding cacao seeds. What you’re left with is an unsweetened powder that’s full of antioxidants. Antioxidants help protect your cells and even reduce inflammation.
Dark chocolate chips
OK, so you don’t have to use dark chocolate if you’re not a fan, but it really amps up the chocolate flavor! My favorite allergy-friendly brands are Enjoy Life and Nestle’s Top 8 Free line!
Sea salt
Did you know that salt amps up sweet flavor? YUP! Don’t forget this crucial ingredient!

I LOVE healthy ice cream recipes! This one looks amazing! And I’m always looking for (yet another) reason to use my vitamix! 🙂
I’m so obsessed with my vitamix too..and now obsessed with nice cream! 🙂
You definitely took nice cream to a whole other level! That last shot of the cone with the heaping ice cream on top is totally calling my name! How’s Snapchat treating you? Joining has been on my to-do list for a while now but honestly I’m kinda overwhelmed by the thought of another social media account…
Thanks so much Sonali…that means so much coming from you! 🙂 I’m SO overwhelmed with Snapchat and sort of have no idea how it really works, but I’m using it as a “behind the scenes”/more personal, meet the blogger, social account versus a stricter blog-only (ish) account at this point, so we’ll see! Let me know when you take the plunge..I’ll be the first to follow you!
mmm I love banana ice cream! This looks so creamy and delicious! Pinned 🙂
Thanks Rachel! I’m now obsessed with it! 🙂
It looks SO scoopable! Anything salted chocolate always sounds good to me, but I never have the combo!
You have to try it — my new favorite duo!
