Friday Fun! My Smorgasburg Adventure
Happy Friiiiiidayyy!!! And moving day to me đ Since I’m only moving 20 blocks within this great city [of New York], I figured I’d share my adventures from a fun New York activity — SMORGASBURG!
A few weeks ago I hopped on the 5 train and headed to Brooklyn. I really wish I was a hipster New York City gal who knows Brooklyn…but I donât. To be honest, most of the time when I venture to this borough itâs is for food.Â
Embarrassing? Probably. But honesty is the best policy!Â
Yes, there are a MILLION things to do in Brooklyn, which I always put on my âto doâ lists, but time seems to escape me. Exhibits, concerts, underground parties…they all sound fun, but some how I just never make it. But I am determined to make it to this shoe exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum…anything for SHOES!Â
Anyways, I headed over under the bridge to Smorgasburg! This Brooklyn âFlea Food Marketâ has been around for years, has been on my to-do list, and guess what?…I finally made it!Â
Many people think that because I study nutrition, I donât enjoy food. Au contraire — I look forward to eating probably more than most and I am by no means the food police. So when I stepped into this outdoor foodie flea, my taste buds perked up!
When I first walked in IÂ saw one of the newest trends…The Ramen Burger. A greasy burger smushed between two ramen noodle-based âbunsâ…interesting!Â
Then I got a lobster roll from Red Hook Lobster Pound. To be honest, I had never even eaten a whole lobster until this summer, but mmmmm đ In true RD-to-be fashion, I ate the lobster salad out of my roll with a fork, but this was probably more to save room in my stomach than to save calories! {guilty!}Â
While I was walking around I saw everything from maple lemonade to âdoughâ-nuts to Cheese Pops (genius entertaining idea IÂ will be stealing for my apartment warming party!).
But what really caught my eye were the frites from Home Frite!Â
Uhhhhh-mazzzz-inggg!!!Â
I tried both the avocado-herb and chipotle ranch dipping sauces, but I have to say, I probably preferred plain olâ ketchup…but then again Iâm a recovering ketchup addict [insert blushing emoji]. Crispy…twice-fried…probably the perfect french fry specimen…and I know my fries!Â
Just wish I thought this through to have my French fries with beet ketchup from Brooklyn Beet Company!Â
I probably could have finished my day with some Alchemy Creamery or Blue Marble Ice Cream or a Peopleâs Pop, but I nursed my food baby back home instead…
And passed these beauties on the way…
Needless to say, I ate my little heart out and made sure to hit the gym the next week, but every morsel of deliciousness was worth it!Â
If youâre in the New York area, stop by Smorgasburg in Dumbo now through November 23rd!Â
Happy weekend yaâll! đÂ
XO
I didn’t know this ran through the fall…great for the holiday fall weekend…thanks! BTW…what’s a cheese pop?
