Cherry Chocolate Banana Ice Cream
This Cherry Chocolate Banana Ice Cream has all the flavor of your favorite pint – real cherries and chocolate chunks – in a dairy free version of “Cherry Garcia.”
We are officially experiencing a heat wave! It’s been in the 90s for the past several days, with noooo signs of stopping any time soon. There wasn’t even a breeze at the beach this weekend… But there was ices to go along with my hot and sticky day! (Thank goodness!)
After living in the summer heat of Tel Aviv for a couple of years, you’d think maybe I’d get used to it, but every year, the heat seems to hit me with a ton of bricks. I also tend to lose my appetite for a few days until my body adjusts. I have NO idea why… it just happens.
But one thing I’ll still be in the mood for are cold treats… There’s nothing quite as refreshing!
When we’re near home in the city, my personal favorite is some form of banana ice cream.
A couple of years ago I shared my Double Chocolate Chip No Churn version – which is STILL my go-to because I never have to think about it. BUT, I love playing around with whatever fresh fruits and flavors we have in the house.
My husband LOVES Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia ice cream, and while there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with enjoying it as a summer treat, it’s in my blood to try and create an at-home version.
Sorry, but I am soooo not one to get fussy with an ice cream maker and churning!
What I WILL do, however, is add everything into my Vitamix, blend, freeze, and EAT. Could it be any easier than 3 steps to a creamy and delicious frozen treat on a 90 degree day?!
I didn’t think so.
AND, let’s be honest… I usually leave out the last freeze step and just eat it directly from the blender… super thick smoothie style! But, if you want a scoopable treat, the freezing is necessary.
I halved fresh cherries I had in the fridge for this one, but you can definitely use frozen too. I even think it would be fun to swirl some around to make it PINK… but that’s just the girly girl in me ????.
While we’re here, let’s talk about CHERRIES for a little…
Cherries are summer’s little bit of deliciousness that are FULL of antioxidants! They’re anti-inflammatory, reduce post-exercise muscle pain, and even promote healthy sleep!
Now that’s a delicious AND nutritious way to cool down!
