The Best Balsamic Vinaigrette
You’ll never need to buy another bottle of balsamic vinaigrette after you try this recipe for the best Balsamic Vinaigrette… I promise! After years of experimenting with recipes, I’ve finally nailed the best recipe for a classic salad dressing that will make you want to eat many more veggies!
Gluten Free, Soy Free, Nut Free, Dairy Free
This recipe has been YEARS in the making! And if you’ve followed my other recipes, you’ve maybe even seen it before. But it’s time that the best balsamic vinaigrette gets its own blog post dedicated to the deliciousness that it is!
Salad dressings and I have a funny relationship. Growing up in diet culture it was drilled into my brain to get the dressing on the side.
But do you know what adding salad dressing to a salad can do for you?
It can make your salad 100X more enjoyable to eat. More flavorful. More delicious. (And even enhance your nutrient absorption!)
So when I finally healed my relationship with food, I was able to enjoy salads on a whole new level. With the dressing poured right on.
Why is this the Best Balsamic Vinaigrette?
One of my favorite salads in high school was a chopped salad with grilled chicken from The Pizza Place. Yes, it was called “The Pizza Place.” Of course, they had delicious pizza, but being that I was trying to eat as few calories as possible *cue eye roll*, I always got the chopped salad… with the dressing on the side.
But the dressing was drinkable! It was so darn delicious!
For years, I tried to recreate this dressing because it was that good. And I finally succeeded.
So to me, this is the best balsamic vinaigrette that you’ll find.
This Balsamic Vinaigrette recipe is…
- DELICIOUS
- DRINKABLE
- Easy to make with just 5 ingredients
- Versatile
- Made with pantry staple ingredients
I make a double batch of this dressing and store it in the fridge about once a month. It lasts and this way you don’t have to constantly be mixing a new dressing.
Ingredients to Make the Best Balsamic Vinaigrette
You’ll need 5 ingredients (+ salt and pepper) to make this salad dressing, including:
- Balsamic vinegar
- Good quality olive oil
- Maple syrup
- Chopped garlic
- Dried oregano
Yes, the best can sometimes be that simple!
While most of the ingredients are pretty straight-forward, I do want to touch on the sweetener used. In this case, I chose to use maple syrup because it emulsifies into the dressing better than a granulated sweetener. Also, I prefer the warmer taste over honey in this dressing. Of course, you can swap in honey if you’d like.
How to Make Balsamic Vinaigrette
It’s pretty straightforward to make this recipe too. You’ll add all of the ingredients to a large jar with a lid. Whisk or shake to combine and pour over your favorite salad. The ingredients will separate when left to stand, so be sure to re-whisk or shake before pouring over salad if you’re storing in the fridge.
How to Store This Dressing
You can keep this dressing for about a month (probably longer) in the fridge. Store in an airtight container. I like to take it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before using so that the fat can come to room temperature and it mixes well together.
Again, shake or whisk before pouring over your salad.
What jar should I store this in?
I love to use old tomato sauce or jam jars for my salad dressings. If you want a clean aesthetic like your favorite influencers on IG (or like the jar in the photos) that’s a Weck jar (affiliate link). They have clips to close, so it’s not a screw-on lid. **Do not cover and shake in the Weck jars!!! Whisk it!!**
Kitchen Tools You’ll Need to Make This Dressing
You don’t need much – just a bowl or jar and a whisk!
These gold whisks are fun though, so I wanted to share!
