Fashion has never quite been my thing…You’d be much more likely to see me in gym clothes to and from class over haute couture. But I can definitely appreciate a gorgeous piece of clothing and drooool over the perfect shoe (if only my shoe budget was larger…hmmm), so when I was contacted by an up and coming fashion designer I jumped at the chance to collaborate (after I saw her clothes and loved them!).
Enter Natascha. She launched Tasch NYC in February and is debuting her new line TOMORROW at Small Boutique Fashion Week, a part of New York Fashion Week. I love that she sources everything locally — even using a factory right here in the garment district of NYC! She gave me an incredible opportunity to show off some of her new pieces in this casual photo shoot…

When Nastascha and I first discussed working together, I wasn’t quite sure how a health food blogger (moi!) and a fashion designer were going to collaborate, but then I thought…the MODELS! While most people think models don’t eat and go to extreme measures to stay thin (and some do), models require fuel to sustain their hectic schedules, constant traveling, and hard workouts (because they need that lady-like definition!).
So how does a healthy model stay energized while looking positively radiant during a hectic week of fashion shows???

Models require food to be their fuel (they’re just like us!), but during a big week of shows they also want to use any advantage to positively GLOW without the bloat. This smoothie contains an extra punch of make-you-look-FAB ingredients — kiwi, avocado, spinach, chia seeds, and coconut water — healthy fats, vitamins A, C & E, iron, and extra electrolytes so skin stays hydrated.
- Vitamin C, in kiwis, is required for collagen synthesis (the stuff that keeps your skin taught and smooth). This vitamin can also boost your immune system — important when you’re super busy and stressed (as a model would be during NYFW!).
- Vitamins A and E, zinc, and selenium in spinach act as antioxidants, neutralizing impurities in your body and helping reduce inflammation.
Bonus: A recent study showed that an extract in spinach can help reduce cravings…great news for models! And I SWEAR you don’t taste the spinach in this recipe!!!!
- Healthy fats, especially omega 3s, in chia seeds and avocados, are the secret ingredient to make you GLOW and add a delicious creaminess to this recipe!
- Hydration, via coconut water and all the produce, keeps your skin dewy and supple…Always a plus!
Ingredients
- 1 kiwi
- 1 banana, frozen
- ¼ avocado
- 2 cups (or more) baby spinach
- ¼ cup coconut water (plain, not flavored!)
- ½-1 tablespoon chia seeds
Instructions
- Throw all ingredients in a blender (I used my Magic Bullet) and blend until smooth!
- Enjoy immediately for the most potent nutrition!
Again, I PROMISE you cannot taste the spinach at ALL…it simply enhances the green color of the kiwi with HUGE nutritional benefits! This is serious tropical beautifying smoothie heaven MMMM 🙂

I’ve only been eating avocados (not religiously) for about a year at this point…. I thought I hated them prior solely because my dad implanted such crazy thoughts in my mind, HA HA HA HA! But girllll YUM! And I love them added to all sorts of random stuff to create more CREAMY consistencies!
